David Bickford is the Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair in Biology and Associate Professor at the University of La Verne (California, USA). He is an evolutionary ecologist with broad interests and a strong drive to conserve biodiversity. Dr. Bickford has worked in 15 countries around the world, living more than 25 years in the tropics. His research focuses on understanding adaptive radiations, tropical diversity, climate change, and the conservation, ecology, and evolution of biodiversity. He approaches questions from organismal and evolutionary perspectives and uses multi- and inter-disciplinary methods to solve conservation problems. Current research deals with climate change and extinction risks in amphibians, the evolution and ecology of parental care, community engagement to bring science to solutions, and conservation of amphibians and reptiles in Australasia and the Americas.
